Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy | Knoxville, TN
$160 for a 50 minute session
I do not accept insurance directly. Working outside the insurance system allows me to provide the highest quality of care without restrictions on session length, treatment approach, or diagnosis requirements. I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
There is no fixed timeline. The length of therapy depends on your goals, how openly you engage in the process, and how quickly we can address the root issues (often using Accelerated Resolution Therapy). We will regularly review progress together.
I work with adults (18+) and couples. I do not currently see children or adolescents.
For clients in Tennessee, I offer both in-person sessions in Knoxville and secure telehealth. You can choose one or use a hybrid approach. For clients in Colorado, I offer telehealth only.
The best first step is to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. This gives us a chance to see if we’re a good fit and for you to ask any questions. You can book it on the Contact page.
There is a 24-hr cancellation policy. Any appointments canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment, there is an automatic $70 cancelation fee.
I primarily use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFCT) for couples, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma, and attachment-based + parts work approaches for individual therapy.
No — they are different approaches, even though both use bilateral stimulation and/or eye movements to help process distressing memories. ART is a structured, relatively brief therapy. Many people notice meaningful relief within a small number of sessions. You do not have to share detailed descriptions of the trauma, and the focus is on shifting the distressing images and body sensations associated with the memory. Clients often leave sessions feeling more grounded and settled. I have advanced training in ART and find it a strong fit for many of the clients I work with. If you’d like to explore more about ART from the official source, you can visit acceleratedresolutiontherapy.com.
